Ayah
On the 30th August this year, my dad will be turning 43!!
During those years he went through, he still looked the same as he was when I
only reached his waist. With the same pair of eyes that lights up when he smile
and the pair of eyebrows that almost meet when he’s in a fury. One of the
obvious reasons now is that he has white hairs that are taking up most of the
space on his head and wrinkles that start to deepen on his forehead.
My dad is a diligent and loyal worker of Esso and Mobil as he had
worked there for more than a decade. He is willing to move here and there and
be where the company needs him to be. This is why we have moved for almost 7
times and I have been to 2 primary schools, and the boarding school that I’m in
right now is my third high school. Sometimes, I feel like a nomad moving from
cave to cave in search for better soil to plant my crops. See, this is a result
of trying to ‘sumbat’ the sejarah textbook in your head.
He also went to boarding school, an MRSM in Seremban at 16 years old
and was one of the top students who managed to get a scholarship to further his
studies to Miami, Florida. During the 5 years he lived in America, he succeeded
in obtaining 2 masters- master of business administration (MBA)specialisation
in accounting and master of science in information system. Even the hearing the
long titles make my head spin. I wonder how ayah could survive it but then
again, he’s my dad. (smug)
So these are some details about ayah, a person who expresses his
love by protecting and providing for his family including me.
